  • First Newsletter Published!

Take a minute and check out the new newsletter! Also, please help us make it better and contribute! If you are interested in contributing, contact Lucas Joppa (lnj (at) duke.edu).
  • SCB Chapter Status Granted!

It's official! The paperwork has gone through and we are an official chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology!! Here are our official bylaws and charter.
  • Website up and running!

As you can see, we have a new website. We hope to use this space as a central place to get all your Triangle SCB information. If you have any questions/comments/suggestions, please contact Scott Anderson - skaclmbr (at) gmail.com.
  • New ways to keep in touch.

We now have several resources to stay in touch with the Triangle SCB Community!
    • Facebook - A Facebook group page has been created to facilitate communication and networking between members and interested parties. Members of this group can decide how it will function, but I envisage using "The Wall" and "Discussion Board" to post lucrative job opportunities, share ideas and discuss hot topics, while we will keep you up to date on events through the "Events We're Hosting" section (all these will also be emailed through the forums and posted on the website once running). There are some examples posted on the group's homepage. For more information on Facebook visit Facebook.com or contact Johnny Wilson jwwilso3 (at) ncsu.edu.
    • Communication Forum - The Triangle SCB communications forum will be the official medium through which Board Members will communicate with Triangle SCB members and interested parties. The volume of emails through this server should be low. Only Board Members ( i.e. list moderators) can post to this forum; members wishing to communicate through this forum should thus contact one of the Board Members (refer to previous emails or visit the Facebook page for contact details).
    • Discussion Forum - The Triangle SCB Discussion forum will be the medium where members and interested parties can directly communicate with each other. We anticipate more emails through this group as discussions heat up.
  • First Meeting a Success.

The first meeting of the Triangle Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology occurrred at Umstead State Park on September 23. About 80 folks attended. New officers were voted into office.
